Armaflex EVO Pipe Insulation — Class O Black Nitrile Rubber Foam

Armaflex EVO is the world's leading closed-cell elastomeric foam pipe insulation, manufactured by Armacell and specified by mechanical engineers, HVAC contractors and plumbers across the UK for over 60 years. Available in 2 metre lengths, this is the solid (uncut) tube format — supplied without a longitudinal slit, requiring the installer to cut along the length before fitting. Preferred by experienced trade installers for complex pipework with many bends and fittings, where a clean, uninterrupted seam is required.

If you need a pre-slit tube with a factory-applied adhesive closure for faster installation on straight runs, see our Armaflex EVO Self-Seal range.

Why Armaflex EVO?

  • Class O fire rated — BS 476 Part 6 & 7, B-s2,d0 to EN 13501. Mandatory for commercial buildings, HVAC systems and any installation covered by Building Regulations Part B
  • Built-in vapour barrier — closed-cell structure with water vapour resistance μ ≥ 10,000. No separate vapour wrapping required on chilled water or cold pipework
  • Low thermal conductivity — λ ≤ 0.033 W/mK at 0°C, among the lowest of any flexible pipe insulation. Minimises heat loss on heating pipework and heat gain on chilled water
  • Microban® antimicrobial protection — built into the foam, inhibiting mould and mildew growth on the insulation surface. Important for HVAC and chilled water applications
  • Wide temperature range — -50°C to +105°C continuous operating temperature, covering all standard heating, cooling and refrigeration applications
  • Flexible and lightweight — bends around fittings and changes of direction without cutting. Significantly faster to install than rigid insulation on complex pipework

Available Pipe Sizes & Wall Thicknesses

Select your pipe outside diameter (OD) and wall thickness from the variant selector above. Available in all standard UK pipe sizes from 10mm to 114mm OD, in 9mm, 13mm, 19mm and 25mm wall thicknesses.

Not sure which wall thickness you need? See our Armaflex thickness guide for recommendations by application.

Common Applications

  • Commercial and domestic central heating flow and return pipework
  • Chilled water flow and return in HVAC systems
  • Domestic and commercial hot and cold water supply
  • Air conditioning refrigerant and chilled water pipework
  • Heat pump primary circuits and buffer vessel connections
  • Condensate pipework from boilers and heat pumps
  • Refrigeration suction and liquid lines
  • District heating secondary connections

Installation

This solid tube format requires the installer to cut along the length of the tube using a sharp knife or Armaflex cutting tool before fitting over the pipe. Once fitted, seal the cut seam and all butt joints with Armaflex 520 contact adhesive. For bends and fittings, mitre cut the insulation and seal all cut faces with adhesive before assembly. Do not stretch or compress the insulation during installation as this reduces the effective wall thickness.

Note: This format is recommended for experienced trade installers. For DIY or straightforward straight-run installations, the Armaflex EVO Self-Seal version is easier to fit.
