Types of Refrigeration Insulation
- Armaflex HT Pipe Insulation — High-temperature elastomeric foam pipe insulation for solar thermal and outdoor applications. Resistant to UV, ozone and weathering. Suitable for operating temperatures up to +150°C. Available in pipe sections and sheet form.
- Elastomeric Foam Pipe Insulation — Closed-cell nitrile rubber foam insulation for refrigeration suction and liquid lines. Prevents condensation on cold pipework and provides thermal insulation to maintain system efficiency. Class O fire rated.
- Refrigeration Insulation Foil — Aluminium foil vapour barrier for wrapping over pipe insulation on refrigeration and chilled water pipework. Provides additional vapour resistance and mechanical protection.
Why Vapour Control Matters in Refrigeration
Refrigeration and chilled water pipework operates below ambient temperature, creating a risk of condensation forming on the pipe surface if insulation is inadequate or poorly sealed. Condensation causes corrosion, reduces system efficiency and can cause structural damage. Closed-cell elastomeric foam insulation with a low water vapour transmission rate is essential for these applications.
