How to measure?
Measure the Outside Diameter (OD)
Pipe insulation sizes refer to the outside diameter of the pipe — not the bore (internal diameter).
Wrap a tape measure around the pipe, divide by π (3.14) to get the OD. Or use calipers across the outside of the pipe directly.

When Do You Need Insulation Tape?
Self-seal insulation closes the longitudinal seam automatically — but every joint, fitting, bend and cut end still needs to be sealed with tape or adhesive to maintain the vapour barrier. Skipping this step leads to condensation, moisture ingress and insulation failure over time. K-FLEX ST tape is the correct finishing product for all K-FLEX ST and K-FLEX SK self-seal insulation installations.
On most installations, tape is used on every joint and fitting — meaning one roll is typically required per system.
