Armaflex Tape
Armaflex Tape — Self-Adhesive Pipe Insulation Sealing Tape
Armaflex self-adhesive tape is the professional solution for sealing joints, repairing damaged insulation and finishing exposed edges on Armaflex pipe and sheet insulation installations. Made from the same closed-cell elastomeric nitrile rubber as Armaflex insulation itself, it maintains the same thermal performance and vapour resistance across every joint — something generic insulation tapes simply cannot match.
One of our best-selling products, Armaflex tape is used across HVAC, refrigeration, chilled water, van insulation, solar and rail applications. Pipelagging.com stocks the full Armacell tape range with fast UK delivery.

Applications by Use Case
HVAC & Refrigeration
Use Armaflex standard lagging tape to seal longitudinal seams, butt joints and end caps on Armaflex EVO pipe insulation. Maintains the vapour barrier at every joint — critical for condensation control on chilled water and refrigeration pipework.
Solar Thermal & High Temperature
Use Armaflex HT Solar Steam Tape for pipework operating at elevated temperatures. Standard Armaflex tape is not suitable for high-temperature solar or steam applications.
Van & Vehicle Insulation
ArmaFlex HOME Tape is designed for use with the ArmaFlex HOME van insulation kit range. Seals joins between insulation panels and around edges for a professional, draught-free finish.
Outdoor & Jacketed Systems
Armaflex Tuffcoat Tape is used with the Tuffcoat outdoor pipe insulation jacketing system to seal overlaps and joints on external pipework exposed to UV and weather.
Rail & Transport
Armaflex Rail Blue Tape is specified for rolling stock and rail infrastructure applications where blue identification is required.
Low Smoke & Underground
Armaflex Ultima UD Tape is used with Armaflex Ultima low smoke insulation in tunnels, underground stations and public transport environments where low smoke and toxicity ratings are required.
Draught Sealing
Standard Armaflex lagging tape is also widely used as a draught sealing tape for doors, windows, loft hatches and service penetrations — its closed-cell foam and self-adhesive backing make it an effective and durable draught excluder.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Armaflex tape instead of adhesive?
For most butt joints and longitudinal seams, Armaflex 520 adhesive gives a stronger, more reliable bond. Armaflex tape is best used for repairs, finishing edges and sealing joints in locations where applying adhesive is impractical. For a professional installation, use adhesive for primary joints and tape for finishing and repairs.
Is Armaflex tape waterproof?
Yes. Armaflex tape is made from closed-cell nitrile rubber foam with very low water vapour permeability, making it resistant to moisture and suitable for use on cold pipework where condensation control is required.
What width of Armaflex tape do I need?
Standard Armaflex lagging tape is 50mm wide, which is suitable for most pipe insulation joint sealing and repair applications. Tuffcoat tape is available in 25mm width for use with the Tuffcoat jacketing system. Arma-Chek D tape is available in 20mm and 50mm widths.
Can Armaflex tape be used outdoors?
Standard Armaflex tape is not UV-stable and should be protected from direct sunlight in outdoor installations. For exposed outdoor applications, use Armaflex Tuffcoat Tape in conjunction with the Tuffcoat jacketing system, or protect the tape with a suitable UV-resistant cladding.
Can Armaflex tape be used for draught proofing?
Yes. Standard Armaflex lagging tape is widely used as a draught sealing tape for doors, windows, loft hatches and service penetrations. Its closed-cell foam construction and self-adhesive backing make it an effective and durable draught excluder.
Which Armaflex tape is suitable for high-temperature applications?
Standard Armaflex lagging tape is not suitable for high-temperature solar thermal or steam pipework. Use Armaflex HT Solar Steam Tape for elevated temperature applications. Contact our technical team if you are unsure which tape is correct for your application.
Is Armaflex tape Class O fire rated?
Yes. Standard Armaflex lagging tape (50mm x 3mm x 15m) is Class O fire rated to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, matching the fire classification of Armaflex Class O pipe insulation.
