This is a sample paragraph

Buying the wrong size pipe insulation is one of the most common mistakes made by both DIY homeowners and experienced contractors. This guide explains exactly how to measure your pipes and choose the correct insulation size.

The two measurements you need

Pipe insulation is sized by two dimensions: the bore size (the internal diameter of the insulation, which matches the outside diameter of your pipe) and the wall thickness (how thick the insulation is around the pipe).

Step 1 — Measure your pipe's outside diameter

Use a tape measure or vernier caliper to measure the outside diameter (OD) of your pipe. Do not measure the inside of the pipe. Common UK copper pipe outside diameters are 15mm, 22mm, 28mm, 35mm, 42mm, 54mm, 76mm, and 108mm.

Step 2 — Match to insulation bore size

The bore size of your insulation should match the outside diameter of your pipe. For example, a 22mm copper pipe requires 22mm bore insulation.

Step 3 — Choose wall thickness

Wall thickness depends on your application — see our individual size guides for 15mm pipe insulation22mm pipe insulation, and 28mm pipe insulation.
