Armaflex Adhesive 520 - Technical Product Data
| Description |
Armaflex 520 adhesive is based on modified chloroprene rubber in a blend of flammable solvents. The material has low viscosity for ease of application and quick drying characteristics. In the dry state, Armaflex 520 Adhesive is not flammable. It is particularly suitable for joining Armaflex flexible elastomeric insulation and for bonding the material to clean prepared surfaces. When properly cured the adhesive bond maintains the very high resistance to water vapour of Armaflex. Armaflex Adhesive 520 adhesive is also suitable for joining Tubolit flexible polyethylene thermal insulation.

| Application instructions |
Before use stir container thoroughly to ensure uniform consistency instructions and disperse any pigment which may have settled.
Use a brush which has short stiff bristles. Apply a thin uniform film of adhesive to both surfaces to be joined.
Allow the adhesive to “tack dry”. This will take 2 to 8 minutes, dependent upon ambient conditions.
Check the adhesive surface using the back of a fingernail. If the fingernail does not stick to the surface and the surface does not feel tacky, the joint may be closed.
Firmly press together the full area of the surfaces being joined. |
| Notes |
Low temperature (less than 5 ºC) and high humidity ( greater than 85%) will adversely affect the drying time for the adhesive and increase the risk of condensation on the adhesive surface. The adhesive should not be used where the time to tack dry is in excess of 15 minutes.
“ Wet seal”. Where it is not possible to allow the adhesive surfaces to tack dry before joining, a wet seal may be made by separating the surfaces, applying a thin film of adhesive and closing the join.
Joins made with Armaflex 520 adhesive should be allowed to cure for 36 hours at room temperature prior to the installation becoming operational or coating with a solvent - based paint.
